Helping Residents Heal

When looking for signs of abuse, a burn injury is almost always a clear sign of negligence. Some wounds are inevitable, especially among people with diabetes or hypertension, but there is almost never a good reason for someone to suffer a burn wound. At Lundeen Law, PLLC, I am dedicated to helping victims of nursing home abuse and their families get the compensation that they deserve. If you suspect that your family member may be suffering from elder abuse, call me, Brad Lundeen, for a free consultation. As with all personal injury lawsuits, there are no attorney fees until you recover.

The Source of Burn Injuries

Burn wounds can originate from a variety of sources. That steaming hot bath that looks all right at first may contain hot water, or even scalding water. Since most residents have mobility problems, they would not be able to get out of the bath on their own.

The second way a burn can happen is if the nursing home caught fire. Fires kill hundreds of people every year, and injure thousands more. Negligence is almost always the root cause of any fire. Nursing home residents often have trouble moving by themselves. They also may be on medications like morphine or sleeping pills, which impair their ability to perceive danger. Therefore, a resident may be more likely to suffer severe burns or even burn to death.

A burn injury can also be the result of physical abuse. As unfathomable as it may be, someone might have burned your relative deliberately.

What to Do

If you notice that your relative has a burn wound, ask how it happened. If you suspect wrongdoing, and are considering neglect charges, call me at Lundeen Law, PLLC. I can help you get fair and just compensation.
